Editorial director Patrick McCarthy will step down from Conde Nast's Fairchild Fashion Group at the end of the year, where he oversees Women's Wear Daily and W. The Fairchild Fashion Group produces trade-focused fashion publications, including the various affiliates of WWD. Conde Nast has also announced that W, where McCarthy had served as de facto editor, will be moved into the consumer magazines group, officially separating the staff of Women's Wear Daily and W. Diane Newman has joined American Media as the executive vice president and group publishing director for the Active Lifestyle Group, which includes Shape, Fit Pregnancy and Natural Health.
