Francine McMahon is set to leave The Hill on Dec. 31 to start her own firm, the Capital Image Counsel (CIC). She currently serves as publisher, executive vice president and advertising sales director. Adam Prather will join the publication to take over as publisher on Jan. 2, 2014. Natasha Curry, anchor of Weekend Express on HLN, has exited the network. There is currently no replacement for her at this moment as rotating anchors will fill-in for the show. Vernon Loeb has been named the managing editor for the Houston Chronicle, and will join the staff on Jan. 15. He currently serves as metro editor for The Washington Post. He has also previously served as deputy managing editor for the Philadelphia Inquirer and before that was a staff reporter for the Washington Post from 1994 to 2004. Brian Balthazar will join AOL.com in January 2014 as executive producer and head of programming. He had previously served as director of original programming and development at HGTV. WLS-TV in Chicago has hired Gil Soffer to serve as a legal analyst for the station. He is the managing partner of Katten, Muchin and Rosenman's Chicago office and a former federal prosecutor. He is also the national co-head of the White Collar Defense, Internal Investigations and Compliance practice. WLS-TV offers local news daily, mornings and evenings to those in Chicago and the surrounding area. WLS-TV is owned by Walt Disney Co. KNTV-TV in San Jose, Calif. has named Peggy Bunker as anchor of the midday newscast. She also serves as a general assignment reporter for the station.
