Ruth McFarland
Publisher
Ruth McFarland joined Cision in 1989 as publishing manager. As the senior vice president of research and as publisher, she is responsible for the accuracy and maintenance of Cision's proprietary media database for North America. She also has operational responsibility for the production and fulfillment of Cision's directory products. Prior to joining Cision, Ruth held various management positions in the hospitality and telecommunications industries. She has a degree in business administration from the University of South Florida.

Andrea Weinfurt
Editorial Director
Andrea Weinfurt joined Cision in 2004 as a research editor. In 2005, she joined The Navigator as an associate editor. In addition to covering placement opportunities and media news for The Navigator, she is responsible for researching magazines and maintaining the accuracy of Cision's media database. Prior to joining Cision, Andrea worked as an editorial assistant for the Minneapolis bureau of the Associated Press from March 2003 until April 2004. She holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minn.

Gina Goodman
Associate Editor
Gina Goodman joined The Navigator as a features writer in March 2008 and was quickly promoted to the position of associate editor. She covers media industry news and writes in-depth features on new media outlets for The Navigator. Gina is also a research editor with Cision, where she is responsible for researching broadcast media outlets. Prior to joining Cision in May 2007, she was a marketing specialist for a real estate company in her home state of Michigan. She holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from Michigan State University.

Lisa Larranaga
Associate Editor
Lisa Larranaga joined The Navigator in November 2008 as an associate editor. In her role, she writes about media moves and new media outlets. Prior to joining Cision in February 2008, she worked for The Joliet (Ill.) Herald News as a copy editor and designer. Prior to that, she worked at The Item in Sumter, S.C. as a copy editor and designer. She has a bachelor's degree in journalism with minors in English with an emphasis in writing and women's studies from St. Ambrose University.

Terri Rieck
Associate Editor
Terri Rieck joined Cision in July 2006 as a research editor. She was named an associate editor for The Navigator in April 2007. She writes about breaking media news for the media updates section and covers new placement opportunities. She formerly served as an assistant publicist and editorial intern at Sourcebooks, Inc. in Naperville, Ill. She graduated from Hope College in Holland, Mich. with a bachelor’s degree in English and French.

Libby vanBuskirk
Associate Editor
Libby vanBuskirk was named as an associate editor for The Navigator in November 2008. She covers media industry news and new media outlets for the newsletter. She originally joined the staff of The Navigator in January 2008 as a contributing editor. Libby previously worked as an office administrator at a real estate company and the fiction editor for Helicon, Northwestern University’s literary magazine. She has a bachelor’s degree in English with a concentration in fiction writing from Northwestern University.

Kristin Esch
Associate Editor
Kristin Esch was named an associate editor in February 2009 and joined The Navigator in May 2008. She covers media industry news and new media outlets for the newsletter and previously wrote for the Journalist Spotlight feature. She joined Cision in April 2007 as a research editor, and monitored Canadian broadcast media and updated radio networks and regional cable networks. In September 2008, she was promoted to the role of research coordinator, broadcast. Kristin previously taught English in Martinique as a teaching assistant employed by the French government and worked as an editorial and publicity intern at Sourcebooks, Inc. in Naperville, Ill. She has a bachelor's degree with a double major in English writing and French from Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington.

Sarah Hetland joined The Navigator team in September 2008 and writes for the Journalist Spotlight column. She joined Cision in June 2007 as a research editor responsible for researching broadcast media outlets. Prior to joining Cision, she worked in the sales industry and was a contributing writer for a college magazine in Chicago. She holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Columbia College in Chicago.

Dziadon joined the Navigator in February 2009 after joining Cision in 2008. Previously, she served as the newsletter coordinator for the alumni association at Purdue University Calumet, where she earned a bachelor's degree in public relations. She has also done public relations work for Deaf Services Inc. of Merrillville, IN.

Michael Mace
Contributing Editor
Michael Mace joined The Navigator as a contributing editor in November 2008. He is responsible for editing the daily media updates. In addition to his position with The Navigator, he is a research editor with Cision and a contributing editor for GreatDoings.com. Prior to joining Cision, he was a project administrator for an architecture and engineering firm. He has a bachelor’s degree in English with a concentration on creative writing from the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee.

Ruth Sosnowski

Ruth Sosnowski serves as a contributing editor for The Navigator. In her role she is responsible for editing the daily media updates. She joined Cision as a research editor in 2006 and was named research administrator in December 2007. Sosnowski previously worked as an intern and promotions assistant at WGN-AM in Chicago, and also served a term as an Americorps*VISTA in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood. Before moving to Chicago, she worked as a producer and on-air talent at WCSY-FM in South Haven, Mich. Sosnowski holds a bachelor’s degree in broadcast operations from Western Michigan University with a minor in women’s studies.

Anna Marevska
Contributing Editor
Anna Marevska joined the staff as a contributing writer in February 2009. She is responsible for writing the Journalist Spotlight feature articles. In addition to her position with the Navigator, she is a research editor Cision and an editor for AZPnews.com. Marevska has also contributed to Pioneer Press, was the editor in chief for Diversity, the newspaper published by Wright College, and interned at the newsroom of Tribune’s WGN-TV. She attended Columbia College and holds a degree in journalism with a concentration of news reporting and writing.

Valerie Lopez
Website Administrator
Valerie Lopez joined The Navigator in 2006. In addition to her position with The Navigator, she is also a research coordinator covering Internet media for Cision’s research department and has been with the company since 2000. Prior to joining Cision, Valerie interned with WTIU-TV in Bloomington, Ind., and contributed articles to the Indiana Daily Student, a daily newspaper published by Indiana University. She has a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism with a second major in gender studies from Indiana University.
